ECPS - Always Growing - Volume 2
Dear families and students of Elk City Public Schools,
One of the things that I enjoy most about my job is getting to visit classrooms and seeing the great things our teachers and students do on a daily basis. When I was a student, I have to admit math was not exactly my favorite subject. In fact I would have been in favor of X finding itself, rather than depending on me to solve X and its problems.
In the past three years math has become a strength of the academic success achieved by our students dating back to the implementation of the Oklahoma Academic Standards in 2018
Please take the time to congratulate our students, your children, and our teachers, for their continued success and academic growth achieved during the 2023-2024 school year.
Third grade math students tied the all-time high for academic achievement measured by the Oklahoma School Testing Program. The previous high mark was established in the 2022-2023 school year.
Fourth grade math students had an 11% growth rate and beat the previous high mark average by 9%.
Sixth grade math students scored a 9% growth increase and earned the highest marks ever scored.
Seventh grade math students earned the highest mark ever scored and also achieved a 9% growth rate.
Eighth grade math students achieved a 15% growth increase and shattered the highest achievement mark that had been established during the 2022-2023 school year by 24%.
High school math students and teachers reduced the impact created by the COVID shutdown for 122 students and experienced a 15% growth rate.
