Another Friday came and went but not without our site acknowledging the weekly award winners! The Mountain Man's Attendance Award winners were:
4th Grade: Mrs. Dunn's Class
5th Grade: Mrs. Hopper's Class
6th Grade: Mrs. Varnell's Class
Our One Church Teacher of the Week was Mrs. McConnell. Mrs. McConnell is our school librarian but in all honesty is really a Jack of all trades at our site. She has done a tremendous job of completely renovating the library and making it a desirable place that the students want to go to! She also brings the innovation in a multitude of ways, including teaching an enrichment class on Coding. She lends a helping hand with anything that is needed. We are beyond fortunate to have Mrs. McConnell at our site and on our team!

We recently had ECIS Honor Choir members Rylee James and Brylee Murphy participate in the 2024 OkMEA All State Children’s Chorus. They spent 2 1/2 days in Tulsa practicing with 4th-8th grade students from around the state. Pictured is when they performed their concert! We are so proud of them and all their hard work and accomplishments! Also pictured is them with their instructor, Mrs. Tiffany Ragan!

Due to icy conditions, school will be cancelled today. Stay safe and warm!

Another great time of celebration this past week at Antler Alert! The Mountain Man's Attendance Award winners were:
4th Grade: Mrs. Ball’s Class
5th Grade: Mrs. Gilliland's Class
6th Grade: Mrs. Williams’ Class
Our One Church Teacher of the Week was Mrs. Copeland. Mrs Copeland is an outstanding educator that is always looking for new and innovative ways to reach her math students. She holds her students to high expectations and doesn’t waver from that commitment. She wears multiple hats at our site because of all the different committees she is on or in charge of. We are so thankful to have Mrs. Copeland on our ECIS team! Congratulations one again!

It's great to be in The Brown and White!

Snack Sale on January 23!

Mrs. Cloud and Mrs. Copeland have transformed their Math lessons using a “Mission Possible” Theme to get all students engaged and have fun with math. Each group has a Commissioner-Leader, Informant-errand person for the group, and a Scribe-writer for certain activities. They have noticed more interaction from all students along with less missing work. Students can earn points for their team by turning in their completed assignments, and the students have really bought in!! They encourage each other and have peer “math” discussions to help each teammate be successful. Students are also coming to class on time and prepared, since not doing so could lose their team points.
What a great spin to the new year!

6th Grade Academic Team placed 2nd at the Regional Meet, which qualified them for Area! We are so proud of them!

With the frigid temps we had to stay indoors for the attendance winners extra recess. It seemed like a good time for a massive game of Pac-Man!
Even with the cold it is still a great day to be in The Brown and White!

It is a new year but we have the same goals! Antler Alert continues to give us things to celebrate! The first group of Mountain Man's Attendance Award winners this semester:
4th Grade: Mrs. Ball’s Class
5th Grade: Mr. Hickey’s Class
6th Grade: Mrs. Williams Class
Our One Church Teachers of the Week was Mrs. Dunn. She is constantly making sure her class in engaged by using hands on learning and completing stimulating projects. Group work is also a constant in her class and it is evident that the students enjoy working together. She is consistent in giving the same energy for both of the subjects she teaches and makes sure students stay on pace. We are glad she is a part of ECIS! Congratulations once again to Mrs. Dunn!

Intermediate GT students spent their lesson this week learning about the work of Dale Chihuly. He is an artist that uses glass blowing to create amazing pieces of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Students watched a video of Chihuly at his studio, discussed what makes an artist, and how art is used to evoke emotion. Students then used clear and colored transparencies, sharpies, and different techniques to create their own version of Chihuly's work. 4th grade made "glass" chandeliers and 5th-6th grade made "glass" bowls.

Congratulations to the Elk City Support Staff of the Year, Allison Kauk! Allison manages the cafeteria at the Intermediate School and leads with passion! She always goes above and beyond to ensure students feel welcome every time they walk into the cafeteria. She always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude! Allison is flexible and does any and everything asked of her. Going above and beyond daily, including placement of positive quotes on student lockers to brighten their day. We are so proud of her!

The work she does exudes excellence! She is a model teacher that so many look to for guidance and encouragement. She's always there for anyone that needs her and contributes to every aspect of education! She is beyond deserving and we were very excited to honor her!
